1999 Brunello di Montalcino, Siro Pacenti x 62004-20146 Bottles£314.00£391.20
- "The 1999 Brunello di Montalcino is Pacenti’s best to date, quite dark in its ruby-garnet tonality and with ample sensations of cloves, vanilla, and sandalwood, though better integrated with the plum and raspberry fruit than in the past. The intense and powerful palate, concentrated, solid, and dense, is sweet and richly fruity and the depth and energy of the flavors indicate a significant life span ahead, a good fifteen years. Only a rise in the level of the oak on the finish keeps the score from going higher. 92" Robert Parker
-
1999 Château Baron Pichon Longueville, 2ème Cru Pauillac2002-201412 Bottles£750.00£928.80
- "The dark ruby/purple-colored Pichon Longueville Baron reveals aromas of charcoal, black currants, and sweet toasty oak. This low acid, medium-bodied, charming, lush 1999 possesses good stuffing, ripe tannin, and a moderately long finish. Enjoy it now as well as over the next 10-12 years. 89" Robert Parker
-
1999 Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux St Jacques, Domaine Denis Mortet2009-201912 Bottles£1,200.00£1,468.80
- "I was clearly too hard on this wine when I sampled it from barrel as I found the oak intrusive and the overall impression was a wine that lacked focus. However, the wine has come together and while it is by no means a great wine, it is certainly respectable. The oak is still present but more in the sense of a textural impact on the finish where it rounds off the edges but it has integrated aromatically. In short, a solid if not distinguished effort that should continue to improve for another few years. 88" Allen Meadows

- "The profound, opaque purple-colored 2000 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee des Felix elicited the following words: "Mama-Mia!" A fabulous offering, it provides a lesson in the flavors of Provence. It is like an open air Provencal marketplace with notes of dried herbs, saddle leather, fennel, licorice, black cherries, cassis, blackberries, and tapenade. With tremendous concentration and purity, as well as powerful, balanced, full-bodied flavors, this stunning effort represents the nectar of old vines planted in the sun-drenched appellation of Chateauneuf du Pape. 96" Robert Parker

2001 Torra Tirant, Rotllan, Priorat x 62005-20206 Bottles£340.00£427.20
- "A prodigious effort, the 2001 Tirant is a 9,000-bottle cuvee made from 30% Grenache (90-100 years old), 25% Carignan (90-100 years old), 25% young vine Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Syrah, and 10% Merlot. Fermented in large oak foudres and aged 12 months in new French oak, it will be bottled with neither fining nor filtration. Inky/purple-colored to the rim, it boasts a spectacular bouquet of blueberries, blackberries, and the region’s classic crushed stone minerality. This full-throttle yet remarkably elegant 2001 possesses tremendous intensity and texture as well as layers of flavor, but comes across as not over the top, overripe, or overly heavy. The 60-second finish reveals more noticeable tannin than the other cuvees. Give it 1-2 years of cellaring and drink it over the following 10-15. The 2001 Tirant is indeed a special wine. 96-98" Robert Parker

2003 Château Cos d'Estournel, 2ème Cru St Estèphe x 62006-20366 BottlesTBA£990.00
- "The prodigious, fantastic 2003 Cos d’Estournel is a candidate for “wine of the vintage.” A blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon (unusually high for this chateau), 30% Merlot, and 2% Cabernet Franc, 17,500 cases were produced from low yields. An inky/blue/purple color is accompanied by a compelling perfume of black fruits, subtle smoke, pain grille, incense, and flowers. With extraordinary richness, full body, and remarkable freshness, elegance, and persistence, this is one of the finest wines ever made by this estate. The good news is that it will be drinkable at a young age yet evolve for three decades or more. Kudos to winemaker Jean-Guillaume Prats and owner Michel Reybier. 98" Robert Parker

- “This reflects the elegance that can be found in Prémeaux and the Mugnier touch only adds to this with a nicely complex and aromatically expressive nose that offers detailed and pure aromas of earth black fruit and plum that dissolve into beautifully complex refined and balanced flavors that also display ample finishing minerality a touch of austerity and reasonably good phenolic ripeness. There is some noticeable acidity on the backend but it's not enough to cause dryness. A really lovely effort that should age effortlessly and while this presently has a touch of forest floor on the nose I suspect that it will pass in time. 90” Allen Meadows

2004 Barolo Vigna Croera di Morra, Bruno Giacosa x 62010-20206 Bottles£420.00£518.40
- "The 2004 Barolo Vigna Croera reveals pretty aromatics and notes of smoke, tar, roses, herbs and the small red fruits that are characteristic of the wines of La Morra. Made in a medium-bodied, delicate style it possesses a graceful, feminine personality and finessed tannins. Even though the wine continued to gain weight in the glass I noted that it was less expressive than when I tasted it from barrel in April 2007. 90" Robert Parker

This is a relatively high-toned, feminine Brunello that floats on the palate with notable grace and class. A long, gorgeous finish rounds out this harmonious 2007 from Sesti. 93" Antonio Galloni in Robert Parker
-
2007 Brunello di Montalcino, Campi di Fonterenza x 62012-20226 Bottles£250.50£315.00
- Deep ruby colour, powerful dark cherry and damson fruit on the nose. Very intense fruit attack lovely balance, terrific concentration, really layered and complex. Big fruit with super ripe tannins, very, very long. The wine was then tasted after decanting: The nose has opened out to reveal more complexity and intensity. There are now smoky notes and floral ones as well as the concentrated flavours of plums and cherries. Really intense on the attack with an impressive core of concentrated blackcurrant fruit. Long and balanced as well as fresh and vibrant. Very long and very impressive.
-
2007 Brunello di Montalcino, Siro Pacenti x 62012-20226 Bottles£265.00£332.40
- "The 2007 Brunello di Montalcino wraps across the palate with layers of sweet red cherries, flowers, licorice and spices. Soft and sensual, the 2007 impresses for its impeccable balance and long, suave finish. The 2007 kept improving over the time I followed it. This is a vintage built on silky elegance and expressive fleshiness in the fruit, but those elements need time to emerge fully. There is an inner resonance to the 2007 I find very appealing. 94+" Antonio Galloni in Robert Parker

-
2008 Morcinaia, Castello di Magione x 62012-20186 Bottles£71.00£99.90
- Seriously good wine which could be priced considerably higher if it came from Tuscany rather than Umbria. A blend of Sangiovese (20%) with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon (40% each). Full of ripe dark fruits, with lovely supple tannins and long, complex fruit-dominated finish. Fabulous intensity and weight. Morcinaia is a word from the Umbrian dialect which refers to the heap of stones placed on the edge of a plot of land when work begins on creating a vineyard.

-
2008 Ampeleia, Maremma Toscana x 62012-20216 Bottles£125.50£165.00
- "The 2008 Ampeleia is a gorgeous wine laced with dark wild cherries, violets and minerals. This is a wonderfully translucent, expressive red endowed with considerable nuance and personality. Sweet flowers and crushed rocks are woven into the vibrant, mid-weight finish. This is a classy effort from Ampeleia. In 2008 Ampeleia is 60% Cabernet Franc, 15% Sangiovese and a mix of other red grapes. The wine spent 16 months in oak prior to being bottled. 90" Robert Parker
-
2008 Nuits St Georges, Domaine Arnoux Lachaux2011-201612 Bottles£258.00£338.40

-
2008 Châteauneuf du Pape Rouge, Domaine Charvin2011-202012 Bottles£313.50£405.00
- "The 2008 Chateauneuf du Pape is a sexy, medium to full-bodied effort with far more depth, richness and seductive powers than most Chateauneuf du Papes in this vintage. A classic blend of 85% Grenache and the rest equal parts Mourvedre, Syrah and Vaccarese has resulted in a deep plum/ruby-hued 2008 displaying loads of kirsch, pepper and licorice notes. The fruit is sweet, the tannins silky and the wine very seductive and evolved. 90" Robert Parker
-
2008 Nuits St Georges Aux St Julien, Domaine Daniel Bocquenet2011-201612 Bottles£318.50£411.00
- “An earthy, serious and ripe nose offers up notes of blue berries and violets that precede the textured, pure and intense middle weight flavors that possess plenty of dry extract and excellent length for a wine of its level. Worth a look as this wine always ages well. 88-91” Allen Meadows
-
2008 Volnay, Domaine Lafarge2011-201512 Bottles£321.00£414.00
- “An airy, cool and lacy nose that is very Volnay offers up notes of both red and blue pinot fruit plus nuances of warm earth and violets before introducing vibrant, detailed and delicious middle weight flavors that possess good focus though there is subtle hint of dryness that is probably exacerbated by the copious gas. 86-89” Allen Meadows
-
2008 Vosne Romanée, Domaine Hudelot Noëllat2011-201612 Bottles£331.00£426.00
- “Like the Chambolle expressing its origins, this is a picture-perfect Vosne with a broad range of spice elements suffusing the pretty mix of red and blue pinot fruit aromas where the spices continue onto the seductive, pure and solidly detailed middle weight flavors that culminate in a sappy and delicious finish. There is a hint of dryness on the finish though it appears to be more due to the considerable gas than unripe or astringent tannins. In sum, this is a villages of finesse. 87-89” Allen Meadows
-
2008 Volnay Vendanges Selectionnées, Domaine Lafarge2011-201612 Bottles£376.00£480.00
- “A much more restrained but more complex nose of dense red berry fruit trimmed in earth and wet stone nuances, both of which can also be found on the more concentrated, naturally sweet and delicious medium-bodied flavors that display firm but not aggressive tannins and good length. There is a hint of dryness here as well though again, it's probably an effect of the considerable CO2 present. 87-89” Allen Meadows
-
2008 Brunello di Montalcino, Marino Colleoni, Santa Maria x 62014-20226 Bottles£200.50£255.00
- Fabulously aromatic. Fresh and complex on the palate; stunning fruit flavours backed with wonderful mineral freshness. Long and beautifully balanced.
-
2008 Barolo, Pio Cesare x 62015-20206 Bottles£203.00£258.00
- "Sweet rosemary, licorice and red berries waft from the glass in Pio Cesare’s 2008 Barolo. This is a fairly approachable vintage for the estate’s Barolo. Firm, young Nebbiolo tannins frame the long finish. The aromas and flavors are somewhat forward, and I don’t see enough depth in the fruit to support long-term drinking, but the 2008 should provide plenty of enjoyment on the near and medium term. 92" Robert Parker
-
2008 Vougeot 1er Cru Les Petits Vougeots, Domaine Hudelot Noëllat2011-201712 Bottles£418.50£531.00
- “A more deeply pitched, somber and serious nose of dark berry fruit and warm earth notes where the latter element transfers to the concentrated and more obviously structured medium-bodied flavors that possess fine complexity if moderate rusticity on the attractively persistent finish. Good if not special quality. 89-91” Allen Meadows
-
2008 I Sodi di San Niccolo, Castellare x 62018-20286 Bottles£215.00£272.40
- "The 2008 I Sodi di San Niccolo is especially dark, powerful and brooding in this vintage. Black fruit, smoke, tar and incense are some of the many notes that flow from a structured, tense frame. The 2008 will test the readers’ patience, but it has the stuffing and pedigree to develop into a splendid wine. This is a fabulous showing, especially within the context of the vintage. Today, the 2008 looks to be a great wine in the making. I Sodi di San Niccolo is 85% Sangioveto and 15% Malvasia Nera aged in French oak barrels, 50% new. 95+" Robert Parker
-
2008 Nuits St Georges 1er Cru Clos des Corvées Pagets, Domaine Arnoux Lachaux x 62011-20146 Bottles£260.00£326.40
- “This is a step up in elegance with a pretty mix of upper and lower register fruit aromas that evidence hints of earth, floral notes and jerky that also can be found on the nicely rich and round yet detailed middle weight flavors that are really quite pure and fine, all wrapped in a solidly persistent finish. Lovely. 89-91” Allen Meadows
-
2008 Giorgio Primo, Fattoria La Massa x 62013-20236 Bottles£295.50£369.00
- "The 2008 Giorgio Primo is all class and elegance. It shows surprising richness for the vintage with a level of detail, clarity and polish that are first-rate. Minerals, crushed flowers, cassis and sweet grilled herbs add complexity on the long, focused finish. This is a fabulous effort from proprietor Giampaolo Motta. 93+" Robert Parker
-
2008 Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Ducs, Domaine Marquis d'Angerville2010-202512 Bottles£670.00£832.80
- "Game, leather, forest floor and black tea and peat smokiness are prominent in the nose of d’Angerville’s 2008 Volnay Clos Des Ducs in a way not approached by any of its siblings. Similarly, bittersweet, iris-like inner-mouth floral perfume lends a dimension dear to lovers of Volnay that was not in evidence in other d’Angerville 2008s, at least at this stage. These distinctions noted, there is red berry profusion here, too, and a sappy, energetic overall impression, encompassing a gripping finish, and with mineral diversity – chalk, salt, iodine, alkali, and I-don’t-know-what – that helps guarantee that this firmly and finely structured Volnay will remain dazzlingly complex, if handsomely lean, for the next 15 or more years. 93" David Schildknecht in Robert Parker
-
2008 Brunello di Montalcino, Salvioni x 62015-20256 Bottles£345.00£428.40
- Hugely intense and concentrated on the palate. Powerful and structured, and tremendously long lasting. Great wine.
-
2008 Volnay 1er Cru Mitans, Domaine Lafarge2011-201712 Bottles£716.00£888.00
- “Not surprisingly, this is aromatically more elegant and refined with its very cool and pure red pinot fruit, stone and plum fragrances that precede beautifully well detailed and tension-filled medium-bodied flavors that possess very fine tannins and perfect balance. This should be lovely. 90-92” Allen Meadows
-
2008 Barbaresco Santo Stefano di Neive, Bruno Giacosa x 62013-20286 Bottles£495.00£608.40
- Magnificent wine, showing elegance, poise and finesse. Tremendously complex and mineral on the finish.
-
2008 Barbaresco Asili, Bruno Giacosa x 62013-20206 Bottles£520.00£638.40
- "Captivating flower perfume lifts aromas of raspberry, menthol and mint. Seamless in texture but a bit youthfully imploded, offering terrific red fruit intensity without weight. Quite spicy for Asili. Nicely balanced, silky, floral Barbaresco, finishing with continuing spice notes as well as serious, building tannins for Asili. 93" Stephen Tanzer
-
2008 Ermitage Rouge L'Ermite, Chapoutier x 62012-20236 Bottles£595.00£728.40
- "It is an amazing achievement. Even better is the 2008 Ermitage l’Ermite (449 cases). Not as concentrated as Le Pavillon, it reveals a powdered rock character in its ink, graphite, earth, blueberry and black currant-scented bouquet. Displaying medium to full body as well as great purity, it is another amazing accomplishment from Michel Chapoutier. Interestingly, in 2008, Chapoutier decided to cut back on the new oak for all of his top cuvees (utilizing 25% versus the normal 100%). 94" Robert Parker

Aromas of lavender, black cherries and raspberries ease into a palate loaded with supple, succulent, juicy, just-picked berry fruits – ripe cranberries, black cherries and blueberries - with a dusting of mocha and notes of spice and vanilla adding detail. Aged for 12 months, partly in oak, prior to release. Open-knit and designed to drink young, Kepos will make for fabulous for drinking this Winter and over the following few years. Sweet red cherries, strawberry jam, crushed flowers, herbs and spices meld together in this tasty red. Torrione isn’t the great bargain it once was, but is still a great introduction to the wines of Petrolo. This medium-bodied, feminine Sangiovese-based red is best enjoyed over the next 5-7 years, while the fruit is vibrant. 91" Antonio Galloni in Robert Parker

2009 Clos Mogador, René Barbier, Priorat x 62015-20296 Bottles£230.00£290.40
- "The 2009 Clos Mogador has a more opulent, luscious bouquet than the 2008, with lifted, high-toned floral fruit (iodine, star anise and sloe) and a smudge of warm alcohol. The palate is full-bodied with succulent, gamey dark fruits and an underlying earthiness that should develop with bottle age. It exudes fine tension and poise and is very expressive on the structured finish, which will mellow nicely. 92" Neal Martin in Robert Parker

Spring flower, black olive, smoky barbecued meat, creme de cassis, graphite and black cherry characteristics are all found in this complex, aromatic effort. With an unctuous texture and a full-bodied mouthfeel, this is a gorgeous example of Cote Rotie Syrah that should drink nicely for 20-25+ years. 96" Robert Parker

2010 Kepos, Ampeleia x 62013-20186 Bottles£79.00£109.50
- "The 2010 Kepos is striking in this vintage. Dark cherries, plums, spices, licorice and tobacco are some of the notes that jump from the glass. Sweet herbal nuances appear later, adding complexity and aromatic lift. This is a hugely intriguing wine from Ampeleia that constantly changes in the glass. The Kepos will be fascinating to follow over the next handful of years as it starts to settle down in bottle. 92" Antonio Galloni in Robert Parker

2010 Côte de Nuits Villages Aux Faulques, Domaine Jean-Marc Millot2013-201612 Bottles£193.50£261.00
- “This is also very earthy with a mélange of red currant and blue pinot fruit aromas giving way to rich, intense and solidly energetic flavors that possess impressive complexity and, in contrast to what I usually find with this wine, very fine-grained tannins that impart a relatively sophisticated mouth feel. 87-90” Allen Meadows

2010 Chassagne Montrachet Rouge, Domaine Fontaine Gagnard2013-201712 Bottles£206.00£276.00
- “A perfumed and lightly spiced nose features notes of earth, pepper and underbrush on the cool but ripe red currant aromas. The detailed and pure flavors are quite restrained with a really lovely mouth feel as there is almost no rusticity, a rarity in villages level Chassagne. This doesn't have all of the depth of the Morgeot or the refinement of the Clos St. Jean but this is an excellent villages. 89” Allen Meadows

2010 Chambolle Musigny, Domaine Hudelot Noëllat2013-201812 Bottles£366.00£468.00
- “A hint of wood spice can be discerned through a reduced nose but not much else. The racy, pure and well-detailed flavors evidence a hint of minerality on the mouth coating, intense and lacy finish that gives the impression of being very Chambollesque. Lovely and fashioned in an understated style. 88-91” Allen Meadows
-
2010 Nuits St Georges Les Poisets, Domaine Arnoux Lachaux2013-201912 Bottles£375.00£478.80

A background hint of wood blends with exceptionally fresh and bright aromas of wild red berries and Nuits style earth where the attractively detailed and energetic flavors possess a silky mouth feel and are shaped by remarkably fine tannins on the intense and impeccably well-balanced finish. This isn't quite as complex as the Chambolle but it's close and this too is a lovely villages. 88-91" Allen Meadows

2010 Montevetrano, Silvia Imparato x 62015-20306 Bottles£200.00£254.40
- "The 2010 Montevetrano is flat-out gorgeous. Vibrant, floral aromatics lead to layers of beautifully delineated fruit in this finely sculpted chiseled Montevetrano. A wine of extraordinary beauty, the 2010 impresses for its clarity and nuance. I don’t think I have ever tasted a young Montevetrano with this much pure silkiness and finesse. There is a level of precision and delineation in the 2010 that is truly marvelous. I can’t wait to see how it ages. The 2010 is also notable for a much higher percentage of Aglianico (30%) than has been common in the past, while the international varieties are less prominent in the blend. In 2010 Montevetrano is 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Aglianico and 20% Merlot, which means the Cabernet Sauvignon now plays a much smaller role in the blend. 96" Antonio Galloni in Robert Parker

2010 Nuits St Georges 1er Cru Les Murgers, Domaine Hudelot Noëllat2014-201912 Bottles£551.00£690.00
- “A spicy and relatively elegant nose features notes of red and blue pinot fruit and while there are warm earth nuances, they are more of a background element than usual. The seductively textured, round and well-concentrated medium-bodied flavors also possess excellent complexity and a bit more refinement as well on the balanced and lingering finish. 90-93” Allen Meadows
-
2010 Domaine de Chevalier Rouge, Cru Classé Graves2018-204012 Bottles£579.00£723.60
- "This is one of my all-time favorite wines from Domaine de Chevalier, a silky, rather classic Pessac-Leognan with notes of scorched earth, tobacco leaf and black and red currants, but no hard edges. Fragrant, complex aromatics are followed by a savory, expansively flavored wine made from a final blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. The wine hit 13.5% natural alcohol, which must certainly be among the highest they have ever achieved, even eclipsing the 2009. An opulent, precocious style of wine that seems much more developed, complex and delicious than I thought from barrel, this beauty can be drunk in 5-6 years or cellared for 20 or more. 95" Robert Parker

- “Moderate wood works with the softly spicy and distinctly earthy red berry fruit aromas where a hint of crushed herbs surfaces. The supporting tannins are really quite fine and the mouth feel is definitely on the refined side because of it, particularly on the seductively textured but firm finish that delivers excellent length. 90-92” Allen Meadows

2010 Château Troplong Mondot, Grand Cru Classé St Emilion2015-205012 Bottles£1,197.00£1,465.20
- "Inky, bluish/black/purple, with notes of spring flowers, licorice, camphor, graphite, and a boatload of blueberry, black raspberry and blackberry fruit, this is a powerful, full-bodied Troplong Mondot. All the building components of acidity, tannin, wood and alcohol are judiciously and impressively integrated. It is a blend of 90% Merlot and the rest equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc made by Christine Valette and her husband Xavier Pariente with the consultancy help of Michel Rolland. I-m not sure what the heady alcohol level is in Troplong Mondot in 2010 (it certainly must be in the 15%+ range), but it is well-concealed behind the extravagant, richness, full-bodied power, and pure nobility of this majestic wine. Forget this for 5-7 years and drink it over the following three decades. 99" Robert Parker
-
2010 Château La Conseillante, Pomerol2014-204412 Bottles£1,808.00£2,199.00
- "A brilliant effort from this property, known for the sheer elegance and finesse of its wines, the 2010 La Conseillante offers back-to-back monumental efforts, particularly given the remarkable 2009. This estate has been on a hot streak of late. The 2010 is a slightly bigger, richer wine, but without losing its floral, elegant mulberry, black raspberry and sweet kirsch notes. Combine those with some licorice, subtle new oak and a hint of forest floor, and the result is a medium to full-bodied, rich, complex wine that has striking aromatics and perfect balance in the mouth. Forget it for 3-5 years and drink it over the following 30. 96" Robert Parker
-
2010 Château Haut Brion, 1er Cru Graves x 32019-20693 Bottles£1,994.00£2,400.00
- "As for the 2010 Haut-Brion, it does not have the power of Latour’s 2010 or the intense lead pencil shavings and chocolaty component of Lafite-Rothschild, but it is extraordinary, perfect wine. It has a slightly lower pH than the 2009 (3.7 versus the 2009's 3.8), and even higher alcohol than the 2009 (14.6%). The wine is ethereal. From its dense purple color to its incredibly subtle but striking aromatics that build incrementally, offering up a spectacular smorgasbord of aromas ranging from charcoal and camphor to black currant and blueberry liqueur and spring flowers, this wine’s finesse, elegant yet noble power and authority come through in a compelling fashion. It is full-bodied, but that’s only apparent in the aftertaste, as the wine seems to float across the palate with remarkable sweetness, harmony, and the integration of all its component parts – alcohol, tannin, acidity, wood, etc. This prodigious Haut-Brion is hard to compare to another vintage, at least right now, but it should have 50 to 75 years of aging potential. Anticipated maturity: 2022-2065+. 100" Robert Parker

2011 Syrah La Rosine, Domaine Michel & Stéphane Ogier2014-201712 Bottles£144.00TBA
- “Insiders and shrewd consumers have long realized that the 30,000-bottle Syrah La Rosine Vin de Pays cuvee is a great bargain. The 2011 is a 100% Syrah from the steep hillsides north of the old Roman town of Vienne, a few miles up river from Cote Rotie. The soils are largely decomposed granite. The 2011 La Rosine is a serious Syrah displaying lots of tapenade, blackberry, charcoal and fruit. This beautifully made wine sells at a remarkably fair price as it resembles a Cote Rotie from the Cote Brune. 90-92” Robert Parker

2011 Château Calon Ségur, 3ème Cru St Estèphe2012-203712 Bottles£430.00TBA
- "The great Madame Denise Gasqueton, a Bordeaux icon whom I always visited early in the morning (8:15 a.m. for nearly 20 consecutive years), passed away on the first day of the 2011 harvest. The 2011 Calon-Segur is a fitting tribute to her extraordinary passion and love for this fabulous estate in the northern sector of St.-Estephe. A very strong effort (this property was untouched by the hail storm that swept through the area on September 1), it boasts an opaque purple color as well as surprisingly sweet tannin and abundant quantities of black cherry, black currant and dusty, loamy scents. Medium to full-bodied with beautifully integrated tannins and sensational purity and length, this super effort is a wonderful homage to the memory of Madame Gasqueton. Moreover, it is potentially one of the longest-lived wines of the vintage and should drink well for 25 or more years. 92-94" Robert Parker

There is a lacy mouth feel to the quite finely detailed middle weight flavors that possess good precision and fine depth before terminating in a naturally sweet and sappy finish. Lovely juice. 88-91" Allen Meadows

2011 Vougeot 1er Cru Les Petits Vougeots, Domaine Hudelot Noëllat2014-201912 Bottles£501.00£630.00
- "An airy cool, pure and elegant red pinot fruit nose also reflects hints of spice and wet stone. The lacy medium-bodied flavors possess a strikingly refined mouth feel as the tannins here are also dense but quite fine. There is a lovely sense of balance to the harmonious and impeccably well-balanced finish. Blind this could easily pass for a fine Chambolle though the best examples of Les Petits Vougeots can often do that. 89-91" Allen Meadows

2011 Morey St Denis 1er Cru Les Millandes, Domaine Sigaut2014-201912 Bottles£518.50£651.00

-
2011 Châteauneuf du Pape Rouge, Clos des Papes2015-202412 Bottles£533.50£669.00
- "I tasted through a number of different foudres of the 2011 Chateauneuf du Pape red, which came from tiny yields of 18 hectoliters per hectare in what was a relatively prolific harvest for many producers in Chateauneuf du Pape. Proprietor Vincent Avril implemented a severe triage in both the vineyard and cellars. The result is a beautifully made, sexy, hedonistic, up-front red with plenty of mulberry, kirsch and cassis fruit, a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel, and plenty of glycerin and authority. It tips the scales at 15% alcohol. 91-94" Robert Parker
-
2011 Nuits St Georges 1er Cru Les Murgers, Domaine Hudelot Noëllat2015-202012 Bottles£576.00£720.00
- "An exuberantly spicy nose of earthy red and blue pinot fruit, violet and a hint of the sauvage seamlessly merges into bigger, richer and more powerful flavors that are blessed with plenty of palate coating dry extract before culminating in a pure, seductively textured and balanced finish. Good stuff here. 90-92" Allen Meadows
-
2011 Nuits St Georges 1er Cru Procès, Domaine Arnoux Lachaux x 62014-20196 Bottles£296.00£369.60
- "A pungently earthy mélange of red currant, wild dark berries and spice hints merges into extract-rich, intense and palate coating medium-bodied flavors that are supported by firm but not hard tannins that evidence mild rusticity. There is very good power and excellent length with sufficient structure as to probably require up to a decade to resolve it. A classic Nuits. 89-92" Allen Meadows
-
2011 Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru Les Sentiers, Domaine Sigaut2015-202012 Bottles£623.50£777.00
- "A restrained, cool and very pretty nose mixes notes of wild raspberry, red currant and plum. There is a supple and very round mouth feel to the mid-palate yet the finish exhibits a taut muscularity on the complex, lingering and utterly delicious finish where a touch of wood surfaces. This should also drink well on the early side if desired. 89-92" Allen Meadows
-
2011 Nuits St Georges 1er Cru Clos des Corvées Pagets, Domaine Arnoux Lachaux x 62015-20206 Bottles£335.00£416.40
- "This is also exceptionally fresh though much more restrained with a beautifully well-layered nose of red berry fruit, earth and a hint of spice. There is a wonderfully seductive character to the rich and velvety middle weight flavors that manage to retain a fine sense of precision on the mouth coating and vibrant finish. This should mature gracefully and require the better part of a decade to be at its best. 90-92" Allen Meadows
-
2011 Côte Rôtie La Landonne, Domaine René Rostaing2015-202312 Bottles£833.50£1,029.00
- "Readers looking for a slightly more masculine, muscular style should check out the 2011 Cote Rotie La Landonne. It possesses a dense, saturated purple color as well as abundant notes of charcoal/creosote, truffles, blackberries and cassis. Full-bodied, moderately tannic, dense and atypically rich, long and structured for a 2011, it will benefit from 3-4 years of cellaring, and drink well over the following 15 years. 90-92+" Robert Parker

2011 Côte Rôtie Côte Blonde, Domaine René Rostaing2015-202312 Bottles£891.00£1,098.00
- "Rostaing’s top cuvee nearly every year is the Cote Rotie Cote Blonde, which comes from two great sites, Moulin and Chatillonne. The 2011 was co-fermented with a small percentage of Viognier (2-3%) and 100% stems were employed. A stunning nose of caramelized exotic fruits intermixed with raspberries, black currants, licorice and camphor jumps from the glass of this perfumed, expansive, silky smooth Cote Rotie. Medium to full-bodied and seductive with stunning concentration and opulence, this is one of the stars of the vintage. 92-95" Robert Parker

2011 Echézeaux Grand Cru, Domaine Jean-Marc Millot x 62015-20226 Bottles£478.00£588.00
- "A discreet hint of wood sets off exuberantly spicy aromas of red and black pinot fruit that displays lovely earth tones that are also picked up by the supple, round and seductively textured medium-bodied flavors. There is a beguiling natural sweetness to the mouth coating and relatively firm, balanced and persistent finish. 90-92" Allen Meadows
-
2011 Château La Fleur Pétrus, Pomerol x 62015-20276 Bottles£495.00TBA
- "Made in a distinctive style, the 2011 La Fleur-Petrus is similar to Petrus in weight, richness and overall personality. A dense ruby/purple/plum color is accompanied by notes of creme caramel, sweet black cherries and raspberries. Medium-bodied, stylish and potentially complex as well as concentrated, it should drink nicely for 15 or more years. 89-92" Robert Parker
-
2011 Château Haut Brion, 1er Cru Graves x 62012-20426 Bottles£1,900.00TBA
- "Like its stablemate La Mission-Haut-Brion, Haut-Brion’s 2011 production was small, only 7,600 cases, which is nearly 3,000 fewer cases than in 2009. A blend of 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 19% Cabernet Franc, it is interesting to taste the 2011 Haut-Brion next to the more open-knit, seductive 2011 La Mission Haut-Brion. The former wine is more firm, backward and earthy with a more formidably structured style. Undeniably elegant, distinctive and original, it exhibits notes of mulberries, plums, blueberries and raspberries. Jean-Philippe Delmas told me that in many ways the 2011 reminds him of the 2008 from an aromatic and structural profile. There is plenty of tannin, and the 2011 has 25-30 years of aging potential. It may be more reminiscent of a vintage such as 1988, but it is better made as well as being the product of a far stricter selection process. 92-95" Robert Parker
-
2011 Château Mouton Rothschild, 1er Cru Pauillac x 62017-20476 Bottles£1,900.00TBA
- "Mouton’s classic note of creme de cassis is well-displayed in this inky purple-colored wine. Significantly more powerful, rich and textured than its nearby neighbor, Lafite Rothschild, Mouton boasts superb intensity, stunning concentration, and plenty of sweet tannin. This is an impressively built, full-throttle wine that will require 5-8 years of cellaring and should keep for 25-30 years thereafter. It should prove to be one of the longest-lived wines of the vintage. 93-96" Robert Parker
-
2011 Château Latour, 1er Cru Pauillac x 12016-20361 Bottle£415.00TBA
- "A blend of 84.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and 0.5% Petit Verdot, the 2011 Latour represents only 34% of the crop. It hit 13.1% natural alcohol. One of the vintage's most compelling wines, it possesses a dense ruby/purple color as well as a sweet, open-knit personality with ripe tannin, superb intensity, good purity and harmony, a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel, and lots of crushed rock, floral and black as well as blue fruit notes in addition to hints of ink and forest floor. This beautifully rich, savory Latour will be surprisingly drinkable in 4-5 years, and should age easily for two decades or more. 93-95" Robert Parker
-
2011 Château Lafite Rothschild, 1er Cru Pauillac x 12017-20371 Bottle£460.00TBA
- "A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot (harvested between September 3-21), the 2011 Lafite Rothschild came in at 12.6% natural alcohol (considerably lower than in 2010 and 2009). Exhibiting a deep ruby/purple color, lots of crushed rock, red and black currant, forest floor and underbrush characteristics, moderate tannin and medium body, it is built somewhat along the lines of the 1999 and 2001. It should be a 20- to 25-year wine, but it is not at the level of the 2008, 2009 and 2010. Fresh acids give the wine a somewhat more clipped feeling than most great Lafites have exhibited. Nevertheless, there is a lot of freshness and vibrancy to this vintage. 90-93" Robert Parker

Rosé Lot 2008, Vin de Table, Domaine Pascal Cotat2010-201512 Bottles£236.00£312.00
- When Pascal refused to sell this section of his vineyard to the local council to be turned into a parking lot, they took away its appellation status – hence it is a Vin de Table. And Vin de Table is not permitted to carry a vintage (though a ‘lot number’ is permitted!). Pure Pinot Noir gives a pale pink colour. Very floral white and pink flowers and raspberries. Confit grapes. Sweet and yet very precise nose. The palate is dominated by ripe crushed raspberries with hints of white pepper spice and attractive grapefruit notes. Very crisp and dry – a structured very grown up rosé. This has to be the purest most precise and floral rosé any Cotat has made in at least 10 years. Stupendous!

I don’t see the 2000 being an especially long-term ager, but it is wonderfully radiant and open today. The 2006 is not up there with their perfect 2001, but it is a beautiful wine and stands out as one of the top wines of 2006. Medium gold, with a slightly more advanced color than I am used to seeing in a young Climens, the wine displays waxy honeyed pineapple and delicate marmalade and citrus notes with a restrained use of new oak. The wine cuts a full-bodied swath across the palate with terrific acidity, freshness, and moderate sweetness. -
2010 Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos, Domaine Faiveley x 62013-20186 Bottles£210.50£267.00
- “This is almost Riesling-like with its petrol character that combines with notes of mineral reduction, oyster shell, citrus zest and a distinct saline element. There is excellent intensity with all of the drive that one expects in a classic vintage with firm acid spine shaping the medium-bodied flavors. I very much like the underlying sense of tension on the notably dry, clean and racy finish. 91-93” Allen Meadows
-
2010 Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières, Domaine Michel Bouzereau2013-201812 Bottles£738.50£915.00
- “A touch of mineral reduction sits atop cool and airy aromas of white flowers, pear and green apple before merging seamlessly into pure, detailed and ultra-refined flavors that do a slow build from the mid-palate to an explosive but well-balanced finish. This is sneaky long because just as it feels as though the finish is attenuating, it returns. Lovely and if this can add depth in bottle my score could be conservative. 92” Allen Meadows
-
2010 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc, Cru Classé Graves2014-202012 Bottles£762.00£943.20
- "A backward style of wine with notes of honeyed pears, subtle citrus, candle wax, orange zest and lemon butter, this medium to full-bodied, rich wine has terrific acidity and a long, long finish. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2050. 94+" Robert Parker
-
2010 Ermitage Blanc Le Méal, Chapoutier x 62012-20306 Bottles£395.00£488.40
- "The 2010 Ermitage Le Meal Blanc, which comes from a warmer site, displays more tropical fruit, with loads of red currants intermixed with mango, orange marmalade, and exotic Asian scents. Dense, full-bodied, intense and rich, this is the most voluptuous and opulent of the blockbuster selections parcellaires whites of 2010. It should drink well for 30-35 years. 96-98" Robert Parker

2011 Château Climens, 1er Cru Barsac2016-202612 Bottles£750.00TBA
- "Tasting through individual lots, I was struck by their purity and tautness, developing engaging floral aromas with aeration, with occasional notes of yellow plum and ginger. On the palate, once again there is a common theme of purity and crisp acidity, although they alternated between a lighter and a more mellifluous style. One or two significant lots demonstrated enticing spicy notes that define great Climens. There is certainly enormous potential here, one that beckons an intense, vivacious Barsac underpinned by freshness and focus. 95-97" Neal Martin in Robert Parker
